  It's a terrible interaction between people who are there on their own free will and people who are there because they're court ordered. Bad vibes.There are positives from this place. They will give you librium to help you transition into sobriety. Or put you on a ton of prozac buspar seroquel trazadone seroquel suboxone bs. They basically regulate the behavior of those with withdrawals so they're not a handful. And then they let them loose into the wild with a new drug dependency. Dudes leaving the place on 100mg of librium per day or 400mg of seroquel. Their psych doctor is effed in the head. Plus there's a couselor that is a mega off-the-deep-end leftist/feminist that believes in her bootcamp yelling/guilt trip/confrontational deep dark secret skeleton in the closet confession approach (which nearly caused in-house violence while I was there. One person said "Well, ((counselor's name))'s tryin' to start a f-n riot." We had to talk one guy down cuz he was ready to kill another guy saying what this counselor was trying to squeeze out of him in group) Not the best for withdrawals. One on one she's great. But in groups she won't be afraid of mocking you for having a penis, testicles, or testosterone. She'll belittle you. I didn't like hearing "I've got your balls in my hand. And I'm squeezin' 'em. And you don't like it." Or call you out for being a cry baby because you don't like having your "d*cks stepped on" But don't let her catch you looking at females and appreciating what you see! She's a dry drunk. If you want to get better try it out. It's a rare place that takes medicaid. Just be warned. They'll make you dependent on other drugs and p*ss in your cheerios if you let them.

  Outpatient services are wonderful here, they work with you if you have kids and have different hours of availability for counseling. Counselors would do anything to help someone battling the disease of addiction and always go the extra mile. My life would be much different and worse off if not for the people at gateway!
